1. Introduction

Clearpath Studio LLC ("we," "us," "our") operates the Momentum mobile application ("the App"). Momentum is a martial arts training companion covering Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Boxing, Muay Thai, and Wrestling.

This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and your rights regarding that data. By downloading, installing, or using Momentum, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Data We Collect

Data you provide directly

  • Account information: email address, password (or Apple/Google sign-in credentials via Firebase Authentication)
  • Profile data: selected martial arts disciplines (BJJ, Boxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling) and skill level per discipline
  • Training session logs: date, duration, techniques drilled, intensity rating (1–10), sparring rounds, training partners, and session notes
  • Journal entries: text entries and voice journal recordings
  • Recovery data: body areas marked as sore or impacted on the anatomical body map
  • Technique progress: which techniques have been viewed, drilled, or marked as learned

Data collected automatically

  • Device information: device model, iOS version, app version
  • Usage data: feature usage frequency, session counts, streak data
  • Crash reports and performance data (via Apple's crash reporting)

Data we do NOT collect

  • Location data
  • Contacts or address book
  • Photos or camera data
  • Health data from Apple HealthKit (not currently integrated)
  • Advertising identifiers

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To provide core app functionality: session logging, technique tracking, streak counting, recovery prescriptions, and training analytics
  • To power AI features (Pro only): AI Coach Chat, AI Recovery Prescriptions, Voice Journal parsing, Live Simulator / Coaching Scenarios, and AI Training Plan
  • To sync your data across devices via your account
  • To send transactional communications (password reset, subscription confirmations)
  • To improve the app through aggregated, anonymized usage analytics

We do NOT use your data for advertising.

We do NOT sell your personal data to third parties.

4. AI Features & Third-Party Processing

Momentum's Pro features — including AI Coach Chat, AI Recovery Prescriptions, Voice Journal parsing, Live Simulator, and AI Training Plan — send relevant training data to the Anthropic API (Claude) for processing.

What data is sent

Only the specific context needed for each request is sent. For example: recent training sessions, technique history, body soreness areas, or voice transcriptions. We send only what is needed to generate a helpful response — not your entire account data.

How Anthropic handles your data

Anthropic processes this data to generate responses and does NOT use it to train their AI models. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their API terms, which explicitly prohibit using customer data for model training. No conversation history is retained by Anthropic after processing is complete.

Voice Journal

Audio is transcribed on-device or via Apple's Speech framework. The text transcription (not the raw audio) is then sent to the AI for parsing into structured session data.

5. Data Storage & Security

  • Server storage: Account data and training history are stored on our servers hosted on Railway, using PostgreSQL databases
  • Local storage: Data is also stored locally on your device for offline access
  • Encryption in transit: All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
  • Authentication: Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication (Google). We never see or store your raw password
  • We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data, but no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Subscriptions & Payments

Subscriptions are processed entirely through Apple's App Store via StoreKit. We do NOT collect, see, or store your payment information (credit card numbers, Apple Pay details, or billing addresses).

All billing is managed by Apple. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle payment data.

7. Data Retention

  • Your data is retained as long as you have an active account
  • If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data from our servers within 30 days
  • Local data on your device can be deleted at any time by deleting the app
  • Anonymized, aggregated analytics data (containing no personally identifiable information) may be retained indefinitely to help improve the app

8. Your Rights

  • Access: You can request a copy of your data by emailing support@train-momentum.com
  • Correction: You can update your profile and training data within the app at any time
  • Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data by contacting support@train-momentum.com or through the app's settings
  • Opt out of AI processing: You can choose not to use Pro/AI features. Free tier features do not send data to third-party AI services.

9. Children’s Privacy

Momentum is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If we discover that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@train-momentum.com.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.

For significant changes, we will notify users via the app or through App Store update notes. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
